The experience can be stressful and, in the end, expensive. But not to worry, we’re here to make the process a bit easier.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional is a vacuum that is frequently talked about when it comes to the best vacuum for dog hair, and several people trust it to keep their homes clean.
But is it actually the best way to keep pet dander from piling up? Will its lifespan serve you well?
Read this Shark Navigator Lift-Away review to find out everything you need to know – both good and bad.

- 4 Overall Verdict
The “lift-away” portion of the Shark Navigator is an interesting feature that allows you to detach the canister from the frame of the vacuum, then use the hose in a handheld fashion.
This allows you to bring the vacuum into places that would be more difficult to reach with the full frame.
It comes equipped with a HEPA filter and company-specific Complete Seal Technology, which keeps allergens from being released.
Its brush roll turns on and off in order to deep-clean carpets while also not damaging bare floors.
Included are a few helpful accessories, like a crevice tool for cleaning hard-to-reach areas such as between couch cushions, and a dusting brush for delicate areas.
Extremely Light and Portable
Many vacuums, especially ones that advertise as the best vacuum for pet hair and other heavy-duty cleaning jobs, are very cumbersome, making it difficult to handle.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional definitely doesn’t have that issue. The entire machine weighs 12.5 pounds, and in lift-away mode, it only weighs 7.5 – that’s less than the weight of a gallon of milk.
It’s also very simple to maneuver, as the swivel head design allows you to easily control where you push it.
The Filter is Great at Handling Small Dust Particles
The filter that the Shark Navigator uses is extremely well-made and effectively keeps all the dust inside the vacuum.
Whereas some vacuums blow dust out of the sides, this one ensures it all goes through the filter.
Many vacuums make a substantial amount of noise, which can be annoying – even resulting in migraines or other pain.
The Shark Navigator is specially designed to be extremely quiet, and noticeably softer on the ears than most other vacuums on the market.
The Attachments Provided Are Extremely Useful
This vacuum comes with multiple attachments, many of which will be useful in your day-to-day cleaning.
One of the most interesting is an attachment that allows you to brush underneath things like sofas and low-seated tables, bringing out dirt.
It also comes with a crevice tool, so you can clean corners and hard-to-reach areas, as well as a power brush to clean furniture in a way only the best vacuum for dog hair can.
Very Powerful Suction, but Also Adjustable
When the suction of a vacuum is so powerful, it can get inconvenient. Sometimes, they may pull up small rugs or provide resistance on thick carpet.
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional doesn’t have that issue, as you can adjust the amount of suction it uses.
Release Tab for Debris Canister is Inconvenient
Most vacuums (that don’t have bags) will allow you to hold the debris canister over the trash can, with the bottom resting safely inside, and press a button near the top to open it.
However, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional has a button on the bottom, requiring you to either reach into the trash can a substantial amount or risk blowing dust everywhere.
The Head on the Vacuum is Very Narrow
When it comes to the head of a vacuum, its width is important, as this determines how much ground it can cover at once. The 11″ head on the Shark Navigator may be frustrating.
For those that don’t need to cover very much floor space, it may not be a problem, but if you have a large home, it will take more effort than usual.
Here’s a video showing what the Shark Navigator Pro looks like out of the box and assembled.
The best vacuum for pet hair is one that’s powerful, efficient, requires very little clean-up on the machine itself, and that will last – hopefully – a lifetime.
After evaluating this machine’s features, we can comfortably say it will live up to the task. It’s perfect for a smaller home, such as an apartment, where space is at a premium.
The lightweight characteristic makes it easy to maneuver and store, and the power of the vacuum can handle even the toughest cases.
However, it will require more time than usual vacuums due to its size, and you may have to wash your hands after dumping its canister.
All in all, the Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional Vacuum is a great vacuum for anyone looking to eradicate the lingering dog hair around their home forever.
That’s all for our Shark Navigator Lift-Away review. Tempted to give it a try?
