There are hundreds of orthopedic dog beds out there, but shopping around for a quality bed to suit a large pooch can be tricky.
Bigger beds for the jumbo-sized pet can get pricey. No matter their size, though, big dogs deserve comfy beds – and their owners can find them at a fairly reasonable price too, if they know where to look.
In this KOPEKS Dog Bed Review, we look at one of the best orthopedic options that we’ve found for larger breeds. This is a supportive premium quality bed that is suitable for older dogs and those with back, hip, or joint pain.
Let’s take a closer look…
Introducing the KOPEKS Orthopedic Dog Bed
What Materials Does It Use?
The core is made out of dense memory foam.
This is premium quality foam, meaning that is it hypoallergenic and capable of providing orthopedic support even to heavy-set dogs like Mastiffs and Great Danes.
Keeping the memory foam clean are two layers of protection. An inner cover is waterproof, while the exterior cover is a super soft suede with an anti-slip bottom.
The covers come in two colors: a soft, plush grey and a warm brown.
A simple design makes the Kopeks a brilliant bed; there aren’t any pointless doo-dads or fancy bits that boost up the price.
The double cover protection keeps the memory foam core safe and clean, the anti-slip bottom keeps the bed from sliding around, and the memory foam itself is shaped so that one end of the bed has a built-in pillow for neck and head support.
This memory foam dog bed comes in three sizes too:
Small (25 x 20 x 3.5 inches), large (35 x 28 x 5.5 inches), and jumbo (50 x 34 x 7 inches).
Cleaning and Maintenance
Both of the covers are removable and can be washed.
Memory foam can be wiped down with little fuss too; just take a damp towel and wipe any mess away.
What Are People Saying About This Bed?
Pet owners with big pooches love the Kopeks Orthopedic Memory Foam Dog Bed!
And it’s easy to see why.
Even the biggest of the big dogs find comfort – with Great Danes, Rottskys and Mastiffs all snoozing away within moments of lying down.
Those owners with older dogs with arthritis, hip dysplasia, or joint pain rave about the quality of rest their beloved pets are able to get with this bed.
Heavy-boned dogs will sink into the foam, but not all the way to the floor, and find themselves supported. This is great news for any pet owners trying to improve the quality of life of their elderly dogs.
Will It Suit Dogs of All Sizes?
Though designed for large dogs, this bed will suit small and medium dogs as well – especially if they like to stretch out while napping.
KOPEKS Dog Bed Review
Aside from the quality of the hypoallergenic memory foam core, the foam itself is cut thick enough that heavy dogs won’t sink through to the floor – offering maximum support to old joints.
Anyone with an old dog, or who are hoping to prevent joint pain from developing, will love how well the foam eases the strain.
Now for the bad points.
The covers aren’t rip-resistant, so pups that like to gnaw on anything they can reach will tear through the covers all too easily.
If they manage to chew down to the memory foam and actually swallow some, that could be a trip to the vet in the future.
This issue can be circumvented by laying a blanket over the bed, which many pet owners will do regardless, but the lack of anti-wear protection is worth noting anyway. It’s certainly does NOT qualify as an indestructible bed.
The second issue is around the memory foam not expanding properly once unpackaged.
This is a relatively common problem across memory foam products, and unfortunately the Kopeks dog bed is no different.
Some beds will expand to their full size immediately, while others will take hours or even days to puff up – and some never regain their proper shape. The latter issue has cropped up with our testers a few times too many to ignore.
Back to the positives!
Considering how expensive anything made of memory foam can get these days, the fact that this dog bed comes in at an affordable price in comparison to others of this quality on the market is fantastic.
So, is the Kopeks Orthopedic pillow worth buying?
We think so.
For a big dog or small dog, this is one of the best orthopedic dog beds on the market – and at a reasonable price, too.
When a beloved pooch is entering their twilight years and their joints start to stiffen as the arthritis sets in, this bed is one to put on the shopping list.
